August 4, 2022: Lithium-metal batteries developer Sion Power Corporation said on July 26 it had promoted Michael Canada from the post of chief manufacturing officer to chief operations officer.
Canada’s new role will include expanding the firm’s markets’ presence and expanding manufacturing — about which further announcements will be made in the coming weeks, Sion said.
Canada joined Sion in December 2021 from lithium ion battery tech company, EnerDel, of which he was president and CEO.
Sion CEO Tracy Kelley said: “Michael has a demonstrated track record in operations, project management, and strategic planning that is essential to Sion Power’s ongoing success. Michael will be a crucial part of establishing Sion Power’s dominance in the rechargeable lithium metal space.”
Sion is developing what it describes as a versatile hybrid lithium-metal cell technology that utilizes several levels of lithium protection and can be paired with common cathode materials, including LFP and NMC.
