May 14, 2021: Mongolia’s ministry of energy announced on May 6 that it had received financing from the Asian Development Bank toward the cost of its first utility scale energy storage project. Part of this ADB financing will be used for payments under the contract named above.
The contract is for the construction and completion of the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 80MW/200MWh battery energy storage system, plus two years of start-up operation support.
The ministry is inviting suitable bidders — defined on their experience on similar projects as well as their financial resources — to tender for the project. The bidding process follows ADB procedures and closes on July 20.
