July 20, 2023: IMR Metal Powder Technologies has become the 16th member of the Zinc Battery Initiative, the body announced on July 18.

Austria-based IMR specializes in zinc powders and how to apply them to new research and technologies to enhance the performance of zinc batteries.

ZBI manager Josef Daniel-Ivad said IMR’s innovations and R&D are key to transforming the industry with technologies using alternative metals.

Thomas Rimmer, managing director of IMR, said: “By working with other companies in the zinc technology space, we can accelerate our research and help other zinc organizations to deploy their technologies quickly on the market.”

ZBI, a program of the International Zinc Association, was formed in 2020 to promote increased use of rechargeable zinc battery products.

Member companies include Nippon Shokubai, ZincFive, Zinc8, e-Zinc, Redflow and ZAF Energy Systems/AEsir Technologies.
