Italy’s Electro Power Systems (EPS) will supply its hydrogen fuel cell systems to Australian and New Zealand industrial markets through distribution and installation agent Century Yuasa.

Torino-headquartered EPS has developed the ElectroSelf range of energy storage systems based on hydrogen fuel cell technology and is in the process of expanding its international network of distributors and installers.

Century Yuasa is Australia’s most established battery maker and also carries out design, integration and technical field services for a wide range of uninterruptible power technologies for telecoms, electricity transmission and distribution (T&D), rail, mining and other heavy industries. The first market being targeted with the ElectroSelf system is telecoms. One system has already been installed in Queensland and another is being installed in Victoria, in Australia.

The installations will show the benefit of coupling renewables with back-up power in an on-grid application.

ElectroSelf stores energy from the grid or renewables excess and releases energy when there is a power dip or outage. This enables the system to minimize the mismatch in energy production and consumption. EPS, founded in 2005, is targeting back-up power applications in several markets with its storage systems and recently entered the US market through distributor VP Energy.

EPS is further expanding its global distribution network by seeking partnerships in Latin America and Africa.
