Dispatch Energy gears up to deliver energy storage systems Energy Storage Journal

Dispatch Energy, which has developed lithium battery cell technology for stationary storage applications, will deliver smart energy storage systems in 2013.

The German company was set up four years ago to bring to market a lithium battery technology without the safety issues that conventional graphite lithium battery technologies have. In preparation for delivery the company’s Black Diamond 5000 system is going through a TÜV certification process.

Dispatch Energy’s advanced lithium battery storage systems provides other benefits for the PV and storage market including calendar lifetimes of up to 20 years, high and full cycle activities and more than 5000 cycles with 100% depth of discharge. In addition to cells Dispatch Energy makes modules, battery management electronics and smart energy storage systems.

Since January 2013 Dispatch Energy has organised a series of training programmes for its partners to go over the cell chemistry, the Black Diamond intelligent system and economic models for potential customers. Since 2012 Dispatch Energy has put in place agreements with two solar companies that have established distribution networks to sell into. One is PV systems wholesaler and installer Creativ-Solar, the other is PV wholesaler Solarhandelgesellschaft (SHG).
