April 14, 2022: Ameresco, the renewable energy developer and operator, has warned of potential delays in completing energy storage system projects in the US as a result of battery supply delays from China.

The company said its battery supplier had notified it of delays caused by fresh Covid-19 lockdowns in force in several regions in China.

New Chinese transportation safety policies may also impact the shipment of “a portion” of the batteries, Ameresco said.

The battery supply issue could delay Ameresco’s completion of three energy storage projects for utility Southern California Edison.

Ameresco did not say how many batteries it is waiting for or give details of its supplier. However, the company said construction related activities are proceeding at all project sites in preparation for battery delivery.
