Sustainable energy expert Joanne Wade was awarded an OBE for her work in promoting energy efficiency in the Queen’s New Year honour’s list, it was announced on December 29.
Wade, the former CEO at the UK’s Association for the Conservation of Energy, is the incoming deputy director at the Association for Decentralized Energy as part of a merger between the two organizations.
Wade said: “I have advocated throughout my career for the benefits of energy efficiency and I am equally thrilled and humbled to have my efforts recognised in this way,”
Wade is an honorary senior research fellow at Imperial College, London, a fellow and council member of the Energy Institute, and chair of its Energy Advisory Panel. She is also vice president of the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy and an advisory group member for the Centre for Innovation and Energy Demand at the University of Sussex.
ADE calls itself “the voice for low carbon, user-led energy systems that will allow the decentralized energy market to grow in the UK”. It has more than 100 members from across the sector to develop a range of technologies including demand side energy services, including demand response.
